Towards Large Scale, Customer-Centric, and Integrated E- Services Platforms

Despite tremendous advancements in transforming the Internet into a platform for conducting business and providing e-services, the infrastructure for more interoperable and integrated e-services platforms is still not materialized yet. This paper intends to address the issues regarding the infrastructure for such e-services platforms. It presents a real-world example towards building such a platform – Verizon.com, arguably one of the most complete vertical solutions in telecom industry. Experiences gained and lessons learned during the making of verizon.com are detailed. Opportunities for expansion and betterment are explored. Research topics in the area are identified.
